Rezoning - July 3, 2026

Council will be considering 1st & 2nd reading of the Lake Country Business Park Zoning Amendment at the Regular Council meeting - Tuesday July 7th beginning at 7pm.

The Report to Council which includes the amended zones can be viewed here. It is anticipated that the public hearing for the zoning amendment will be held on July 21st.

It is important to note that Council will only be considering zoning amendments. Upcoming meetings will not be for the purpose of considering new servicing such as roads, water or sewer.

Area Structure Plan Update - March 13, 2026

The Area Structure Plan (ASP) has been completed for the Lake Country Business Park project. On March 17th Council will be reviewing the final ASP. Placemark Design Consultants will be presenting the ASP along with recommendations.

Moving forward the ASP will become part of the Official Community Plan (OCP) and will provide guidance for future development within the Business Park.

Council will consider rezoning of the properties within the Business Park by August 2026.

Lake Country Business Park has been an ongoing project for many years. Formerly known as Glenmore Industrial Lands - the area comprises of approximately 200 acres of property, owned by private landowners. Once the area is rezoned in 2026 it will help the District achieve:

  • Expanded tax base to bring tax relief to Lake Country property owners.
  • Upgrade and improve the road network.
  • Servicing the area with water & sewer.

Creating a business park benefits development in the area and will create new businesses and high paying jobs in Lake Country. Diversification of tax revenue is a Council priority as currently the residential tax class makes up approximately 95% of the District’s assessed value and delivers approximately 88% of the annual property taxes.

As part of the process, an Areas Structure Plan (ASP) had to be developed (similar to a neighborhood plan). Council approved the ASP expenditure as part of the 2025 budget and Placemark Design got right to work and has nearly completed the plan. Council will be asked to review and adopt the ASP in Spring of 2026. Once the ASP is adopted new zones will be created (based on the ASP) followed by rezoning the 200 acres for future development. It will be up to each of the property owners to decide how they would like to proceed once the properties are rezoned.

Staff is working on a financial plan to support upgrading the roads and servicing within the business park. The plan is being developed to be financed and constructed within three phases pending Council approval. Council has approved funding in 2026 to initiate a comprehensive utility (water & sewer) servicing plan and to proceed with the design of phase one.

Progress is being made - however there is still lots to do.

Staff has started marketing Lake Country to an assortment of industries around the world that may consider investing in Lake Country in the future. InvestLakeCountryBC.ca has been created to market Lake Country and put the community on the map. Small Town Feel, Big Possibilities.
